Jimmie “Jim” Askins, 85, of Temperance, MI, died Wednesday, November 21, 2018. Born March 3, 1933, in Lima, OH, he was the son of Nolan and Gladys (Gooch) Askins. A 1951 graduate of Bedford High School, he married Alice M. Viers on May 24, 1952. Jim was the owner and insurance agent for Jim Askins State Farm Insurance Agency for 37 years, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed traveling, spending time in Florida and woodworking.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Alice; children, Peggy Craft, Dianne (Ron) Hubbard and J.D. Askins; sister, Clara Shively; grandchildren, Angela, Jessica, DeeJay and Elijah. Jim was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Donald Askins and Russell Haskins and grandson, Ronald Hubbard, II.
A gathering will be from 1-6 pm, Sunday, November 25, 2018, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman), Temperance, MI. A celebration of Life for family and close friends will be from 1-5 pm, Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Connie’s Celebration, 6195 Lewis Ave, Toledo, OH 43612.
